Rising Suicide Cases in Kashmir

  Suicide means ending one's life. In the recent few months, suicides have been on the rise in Kashmir and have become a leading cause of death. About 800,000 people die by suicide every year, globally and out of those 135000 are the residents of India.  It has become the fourth leading cause of death of youngsters in the world. Suicides have surged in Kashmir during the second wave of Covid-19. Drug abuse and frequent domestic violence are the main causes of the rising suicide cases in the valley. In addition to this, social media interaction is also responsible for this menace.
